…and by always having a “positive” and “helpful” Attitude

ImageThe “A” in C.A.R.E. stands for ATTITUDE, and our code of C.A.R.E. states “we show that we care by… always having a positive and helpful attitude.”

Recently I was speaking with the owner of one of our largest franchise locations about the “crazy” winter we are in the midst of.

I asked him the following question:

“What does this value mean to you and your business during these challenging times?”

His answer…, “it means everything!

With the relentless snowstorms, our teams have been working long hours, all weekend long, and night after night with very little rest in between. Customers are very demanding, and the weather unforgiving. Typically team members get physically worn out and emotionally drained in these types of stressful scenarios. However, armed with this value, we have made it our focus to choose a positive Attitude across the board!  

We only hire people with a great attitude to begin with, and now we make sure we do everything in our power to help maintain it! Our radio communications are always fun and positive. Our team huddles are always fun and positive. Yes we vent from time to time, but we always end on a positive note. There is some good in everything and we choose to focus on that!

We just figured, what good is it going to do us to whine and complain? Will it make the snow stop? No. Will it make us feel better? No. We just can’t see any benefit whatsoever in having a negative attitude.

Our positive ATTITUDE is what makes us successful!”

Well, I’m glad I asked. I agree wholeheartedly. This value is easy to live by when things are easy and everything is going our way, but it is during the hard times that we need it the most!

Make the choice every day and in every circumstance you find yourself in to choose a positive and helpful attitude, and as Zig Ziglar once said, “”Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.”
